Pinington were appointed as main contractor on the high profile fit out and refurbishment of the existing Skylight Kitchen within the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The works on site involved a complete strip out of the existing servery and formation of a temporary servery to ensure that normal operations could continue within the restaurant area during the works. Once the strip out and relocation works were complete hoardfast PVC screening was erected to fully segregate the workspace and existing finishes including floor tiling, suspended and plasterboard ceilings and all existing mechanical and electrical equipment and services.
The fit out works included new floor and wall tiling, plasterboard bulkhead, decoration works all in readiness for the new servery equipment. The Mechanical works included a new roof mounted air handling unit with new ventilation to the entire area, upgrading to the existing heating to the area and re-feeding of all existing equipment and services. The Electrical works carried out by Pinington’s in house Electrical Department included a full re-wire to the kitchen area, new LED lighting to ceilings and feature lighting to the plinths of the new units and upgrading to the existing fire alarm system.
The new kitchen servery equipment including stone worktops, stainless steel appliances and serving trays, new beverage fridges, new salad bar and various other food preparation and serving areas.
The project was a great success for all involved having minimal impact on the live day to day operations of the restaurant area and the finished product shows an extremely top quality project.
