Paul Waters retires after an incredible 46 years at Pinington!🍻 (He can now finally read the paper in peace!😁)

Paul started as an apprentice plumber after originally being interviewed on the 18th July 1980 by the now Managing Directors father, Brian Pinington. He was offered a 6 months trial in the letter (so he hasn’t done too bad considering!)

During his career, Paul worked under five different Managing Directors. It was John Ayrton who recognised Paul’s leadership qualities and promoted him to Site Manager (John will tell you, he wasn’t often wrong!🤣).

Ten years ago, during a company restructuring, Paul was invited on the Board of Directors as Construction Director, contributing to the recent success. 🏆

In recent years he was instrumental in the Heart of the City Project at St. Thomas Church Lancaster and recently the RLI Maternity Bereavement Suite for the local Morecambe Bay NHS. 💙

Known throughout the company as approachable, dependable and always willing to help solve problems, Paul earned enormous respect from colleagues and clients alike.

His knowledge and experience within the construction industry were second to none, and he will be greatly missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Never one to sit still, Paul is looking forward to an active retirement. He plans to continue working through the Wainwright walks and has already put his carbon fibre walking sticks to good use. He will also be enjoying his retirement gift vouchers at QSF, where he can celebrate with his wife and partner of more than 40 years, Diane.

To celebrate this achievement, we invited Paul’s current and former colleagues from Pinington to the White Cross in Lancaster. The event was well attended by many who have known him for years, making it a truly memorable evening filled with friendship, shared memories, and recognition of his contribution and achievements.

The group photograph was taken later in the evening and features many of the “old guard,” including Brian Pinington on the far left. Brian was the person who originally interviewed Paul all those years ago and offered him a trial opportunity with the company. Paul can be seen raising his pint as the group celebrates an occasion that brought together colleagues and friends from across the years.

We will all truly miss you Paul, wishing you a long, happy, and well-earned retirement 🥳
