Pinington History
1948 – company was founded shortly after the war by Victor Ellis Pinington as a local plumbing contractor, with nothing more than his push bike.
1960’s – Sons David and Brain Join the company to train as plumbers under their father’s guidance.
1970’s – With Victors retirement, the two sons build on the company reputation and move into the mechanical contracting sector, employing a strong workforce of engineers and designers.
1980’s – 90s John Ayrton joins the company and brings a wealth of experience in the building sector and helps establish the main contacting side of the business. Pinington Limited is formed and now an established name in the area, both David and Johns sons join the company as apprentice joiners.
2000’s – Nick Pinington and Mark Ayrton progress through the ranks to management level and Tom Pinington, Brian’s son, joins the company having trained as an electrician to slowly build a new side of the business.
2010’s – All three sons are now Directors of the company following the retirement of their fathers, the board is further strengthened by the appointment of Jeremy Hackett and Steve Black.
2017 – The sad passing of the Managing Director and the planned retirement of the Commercial Director has seen many changing over recent years with Tom Pinington, Nick Pinington and Jeremy Hackett building on the reputation as the reliable main contractor.
2019 – The board of directors was further strengthened with the appointment of Peter Heskine, having trained with the company as a QS, Luke Sutcliffe having trained in the services industry and managed highly technical projects at site level, both bring a fresh young and dynamic side to the business and Paul Waters having trained as an apprentice plumber, progressed to contracts Director, bringing a wealth of experience to the company.
The company has now seen an opportunity to grow and build on the long-standing heritage, development planned at the head office to demonstrate the forward thinking and community needs with a low carbon facility to help the local business and leisure sector. A service that we will offer to our client base with the objective to build a sustainable future with the environmental impact reduced without compromising on quality and the end users’ aspirations.
2025 – The company has again faced a tough challenge to restructure with the planned retirement of key members of the board. Over recent years, the fourth generation of the Pinington family have begun their careers in the industry. Founder Victor would have been immensely proud to see his great-grandchildren working at the company that he started just after the war. Facing many challenges, we have kept to the same work ethic to this day. The future is looking bright with Pinington recognised as Lancashire’s Family Business of the year at the prestigious BIBAs Awards.
