Wilson Mason Architects

Pinington were main contractor on the University of Cumbria Gateway project, the first building for the newly formed University and one which was to act as the focus for the new campus.  We acted as Project Architect fro the scheme and the importance of achieving high quality was understood by all involved.

The Gateway is a multifunctional building, acting as information hub, gathering area, central dining facility and main focus for the campus.  As a result there were levels of complexity to both the servicing and architectural easpects of the building.

In addition, the client was concerned with the environmental and sustainable aspects of the project, reflected in both the specification and the construction methods, both of which were embraced by Pinington to acheive BREEAM 'Very Good' rating.

Pinington progressed enthusiastically through the project and were proactive in solving or avoiding problems and delays during the works.  Pinington approached the build as a team member with the main aim of delivering a quality product to the end users.

The overall outcome of the project was very much as hoped, and it has received (and still receives) many plaudits from staff and students using the building.
